Demystifying Smile Designing

Dentistry

June 13, 2022 - 16:00 - 17:00 (UAE time)

Topic Description :

Demystifying Smile Designing

Abstract:

The constant search for a natural, harmonious, and pleasant smile clearly reflects the fact that there are more-demanding and better-informed patients. An accurate knowledge of facial topography and the dynamics of how the patient performs their basic oral functions – such as speaking, swallowing, and chewing – is essential and must form the basis of any analysis of intraoral aspects. Several groups around the world have developed laboratory and clinical protocols in order to predict, with a high degree of accuracy, what the result of treatment will be for the patient (i.e. for completely edentulous patients or those who will receive porcelain- cemented restorations on natural teeth).

Learning Objectives:

  • The principles of smile design
  • Assess the importance of psychology in smile design
  • Importance of incised length
  • Correct shape of tooth
  • Different personalities and teeth proportions
