BIO;
His Excellency Ambassador Andrea Matteo Fontana joined the European Commission in 1996. Throughout his career in the European institutions, he worked on a wide range of issues including political analysis, development aid, trade and economic reforms with a focus on Eastern and Southern Neighbourhood countries. He worked in Brussels as well as in Russia and Syria before being appointed EU Ambassador to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan in 2015. He held this position until 2019 when he became EU Ambassador to the UAE.
