Abstract:

Prevention with toothbrushing:  the when and why.
Good dental hygiene will help to prevent tooth decay and periodontal disease.
What is the best instrument to use to achieve the prevention of Caries?  The toothbrush!
We must remember that to develop a carious lesion it is
Necessary to have a susceptibility tooth, dental plaque and sugar!
The when and why of toothbrushing will be discussed along with the necessity of limiting sugar intake and the must of a calibrated diet.  Brushing
Twice a day must be made a part of the daily routine.  It not only helps to prevent
Pain from tooth decay, but also forms healthy habits which can guarantee a life time of smiles.

 Introduction:

 Brushing your teeth twice a day isn’t just to keep the mouth feeling clean. It’s a way to keep your while body healthy, too. When you brush correctly you eliminate the plaque. Brushing your teeth twice a day will also help promote a stronger immune system and a healthier lifestyle. The mechanical act of brushing your teeth removes the very sticky dental plaque which is a mixture of bacteria, acids, sticky by-products and food remnants. It forms naturally on teeth immediately after you’ve eating. When bacteria consume the sugars in the food you eat, acids are created. This acid is damaging to the enamel and your gums. This is known as tooth erosion. Brushing properly, regularly and thoroughly with fluoride toothpaste is the best way to keep your teeth and gums clean and healthy, whether you use a manual or electric toothbrush.
